La chiave si sta ricomponendo, pezzo dopo pezzo. Ne sono 13. Davanti alla chiesa di Santa Croce e Purgatorio al Mercato: dallo studio di Alfred Mirash in arte Milot, nella città di Durazzo, è arrivata a Napoli per restarvi circa 3 mesi.
L’inaugurazione si svolgerà domani, giovedì 30 marzo, alle 10.30 con l’autore e il primo cittadino Manfredi che ha fortemente sostenuto l’iniziativa. Ci saranno anche l’ambasciatore albanese di Roma Anita Bitri Lani, la sindaca della municipalità di Lac Kurbin Majlinda Cara e la deputata Albanese Elda Hot.
Una scultura gigantesca (alta dieci metri e larga venti) che sembrava perfetta in Piazza del Plebiscito, abituale agorà delle installazioni internazionali, ma lo stessa artista albanese ha voluto che fosse installata in uno spazio da sempre crocevia di culture e popoli, a pochi passi dal porto centro di scambi internazionali nei secoli.
Una sfida contemporanea per il recupero di una piazza da poco ritrovata grazie ai lavori di restauro targati Unesco e spesso invasa da clandestine acrobazie di motorini guidati da adolescenti. Un invito a educarsi al rispetto di quello che c’è intorno a noi e imparare a convivere con l’ambiente.
La scultura, l’autore ne è certo come ha dichiarato sulle colonne del quotidiano Il Mattino ieri (martedì 28 marzo 2023) nell’intervista di Maria Pierro, potrà servire da apripista alla conoscenza dell’arte e rappresentare uno scenario del quotidiano: i ragazzi, per esempio, potranno continuare a giocare a pallone senza scalfirne la struttura, ma ammirandola, come succede in tante altre città del mondo da decenni. In attesa che la piazza sia finalmente riempita dalla fiera permanente a tema, che ne valorizzi la vocazione commerciale e turistica, obiettivo tenacemente inseguito dai consorzi e associazioni del Quartiere.
The “key of today” realizzata in tutta la sua monumentalità dall’azienda Metal Kostruksion Vata in Albania, per un progetto curato dallo scrittore Maurizio de Giovanni (in collaborazione con l’Associazione millevolti) è la prima tappa di un tour internazionale.
Fuggito dalla sua terra in gommone e approdato in Puglia, Milot, che oggi è cittadino italiano, scommette su un simbolo della vita, della rinascita, in una società che possa essere aperta a tutto e a tutti, al dialogo, al confronto,dove ci siano possibilità e potenzialità per ogni persona.
Il suo è un messaggio di speranza in un momento così difficile e divisivo, per risvegliare il pensiero collettivo in una umanità che ha smarrito la propria strada.

Piazza Mercato/ Albanian artist Milot’s key opens the door to the future for Naples. In a neighborhood that has (always) been a crossroads of cultures
The key is coming together, piece by piece. There are 13 of them. In front of the church of Santa Croce and Purgatorio al Mercato: from the studio of Alfred Mirash in art Milot, in the city of Durres, it arrived in Naples to stay here for about 3 months.
The opening will take place tomorrow, Thursday, March 30, at 10:30 a.m. with the author and the first citizen Manfredi, who strongly supported the initiative. Albanian Ambassador to Rome Anita Bitri Lani, Lac Kurbin Municipality Mayor Majlinda Cara, and Albanian MP Elda Hot will also be there.
A gigantic sculpture (ten meters high and twenty meters wide) that seemed perfect in Piazza del Plebiscito, the usual agorà of international installations, but the Albanian artist himself wanted it to be installed in a space that has always been a crossroads of cultures and peoples, just a few steps away from the harbor that has been a center of international trade over the centuries.
A contemporary challenge for the recovery of a square that has recently been rediscovered thanks to Unesco’s restoration work and is often invaded by clandestine acrobatics of mopeds driven by teenagers. An invitation to educate ourselves to respect what is around us and learn to coexist with the environment.
The sculpture, the author is certain of this as he stated in the columns of the newspaper Il Mattino yesterday (Tuesday, March 28, 2023) in the interview by Maria Pierro, can serve as a forerunner to the knowledge of art and represent a scenario of everyday life: kids, for example, will be able to continue playing soccer without scratching the structure, but admiring it, as it has been happening in many other cities around the world for decades. While waiting for the square to be finally filled with the permanent themed fair, which would enhance its commercial and tourist vocation, a goal tenaciously pursued by the Neighborhood consortiums and associations.
The “key of today” made in all its monumentality by the company Metal Kostruksion Vata in Albania, for a project curated by the writer Maurizio de Giovanni (in collaboration with the Associazione millevolti) is the first stop on an international tour.
Having escaped from his homeland in a rubber boat and landed in Puglia, Milot, who is now an Italian citizen, bets on a symbol of life, of rebirth, in a society that can be open to everything and everyone, to dialogue, to confrontation,where there are possibilities and potential for every person.
His is a message of hope at such a difficult and divisive time, to awaken collective thinking in a humanity that has lost its way.
