in carta. Una mostra per due autrici. Giovedì 20 aprile 2023, dalle 16 alle 20, N A M I galleria d’arte e design propone la bipersonale di Caterina Arciprete e Susy Manzo.
Come annuncia il titolo dell’esposizione, sarà proposto un corpus di opere caratterizzate dall’uso sapiente della carta.
Lavori nella quasi assenza di colore, esaltati da bagliori di luce: la precisione con cui la carta viene maneggiata la rende
flessibile, morbida e sinuosa, talvolta dotata di volume e plasticità, senza mai privarsi totalmente della sua leggerezza fragile.
Le opere fotografiche di Caterina Arciprete, grazie al collage, si combinano con la carta o l’inchiostro per dare ancora più impulso e forza concreta alla sua fotografia, alla ricerca di quell’intuizione poetica che oltrepassi la visibilità.
Il lavoro artistico di Susy Manzo si basa sulla tecnica del paper cutting: l’autrice interviene sulla carta integra con un’azione distruttiva-generativa che sottrae materia attraverso i tagli , componendo volumetrie fatte di vuoti e giochi di luci e ombre.
Caterina Arciprete (vive e lavora a Napoli) espone lavori che uniscono la fotografia con frammenti di carta e segni grafici delineando uno spazio vuoto che agita l’enigmatica pacatezza delle sue opere. Sette opere foto-grafiche, un libro d’artista e un video ci conducono in luoghi che fanno parte della realtà e dell’immaginario poetico, per poter riflettere su sé stessi, sull’arte antica e sull’immaginazione.
Susy Manzo (vive e lavora a Milano) esprime attraverso le opere in esposizione la sua capacità di trasformare la carta, tagliandola, in sculture a rilievo, merletti tridimensionali che combinano il potenziale della carta con la luce, i vuoti e le ombre. Ne risulta uno spazio labirintico che racconta anche il non detto.

N A M I gallery art&design/ An exhibition for two. With Caterina Arciprete and Susy Manzo, paper becomes soft and sinuous but remains fragile
in paper. One exhibition for two authors. On Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m., N A M I art and design gallery presents the bipersonal exhibition of Caterina Arciprete and Susy Manzo.
As the title of the exhibition announces, a body of works characterized by the skillful use of paper will be presented.
Works in the near absence of color, enhanced by flashes of light: the precision with which the paper is handled makes it
flexible, soft and sinuous, sometimes endowed with volume and plasticity, without ever totally depriving itself of its fragile lightness.
Caterina Arciprete’s photographic works, thanks to collage, are combined with paper or ink to give even more impetus and concrete force to her photography, in search of that poetic intuition that goes beyond visibility.
Susy Manzo’s artistic work is based on the technique of paper cutting: the author works on the undamaged paper with a destructive-generative action that subtracts matter through cuts , composing volumetries made of voids and plays of light and shadow.
Caterina Arciprete (lives and works in Naples) exhibits works that combine photography with fragments of paper and graphic signs outlining an empty space that agitates the enigmatic calmness of her works. Seven photo-graphic works, an artist’s book and a video take us to places that are part of reality and poetic imagination, so that we can reflect on ourselves, ancient art and imagination.
Susy Manzo (lives and works in Milan) expresses through the works on display her ability to transform paper, by cutting it, into relief sculptures, three-dimensional lacework that combine the potential of paper with light and voids and shadows. The result is a labyrinthine space that also narrates the unspoken.
