“Una domenica con musica!”. La rassegna organizzata dall’Associazione Scarlatti comincia domani, domenica 7 aprile, alle 11, nella bellissima Villa Pignatelli, alla riviera di Chiaia.
Realizzata con la direzione regionale Musei della Campania e con il patrocinio della Fondazione Emiddio Mele, l’iniziativa propone sei appuntamenti di musica, parole e corpi in movimento programmati nella preziosa cornice della Veranda neoclassica del Museo napoletano. La kermesse si realizza in collegamento con il progetto europeo Merita (Music, Cultural Heritage and Talent) e con il sostegno del ministero della cultura e della Regione Campania.
Si comincia con le “Melodie dal mondo” del duo Colbran (il soprano Giulia Lepore con Alba Brundo all’arpa, foto) che propone un percorso nelle composizioni di musica lirica da camera articolato per epoche, stili e nazionalità, da Pergolesi, passando per Bernstein fino a Luciano Berio.
Si prosegue, domenica 14 aprile, con “Dancing on strings” del Sonoro Quartet, ensemble d’archi belga, vincitore del Merita, composto da Sarah Jégou-Sageman e Jeroen De Beer al violino, Séamus Hickey alla viola e Léo Guiguen al violoncello. Per il concerto di Napoli, ai giovani musicisti si unirà in scena il danzatore Giacomo Calabrese che presenterà alcune originali coreografie su brani di Franz Joseph Haydn e Bela Bartòk.
“Father and Son – Inseguendo Chet Baker”, domenica 21 aprile, presenta l’originale “bio-concert”, scritto da Stefano Valanzuolo in dedica al leggendario jazzista statunitense. Nel corso del racconto teatrale, la voce narrante di Antonello Cossia si intreccia al prezioso ed evocativo tessuto musicale riarrangiato (per chitarra e tromba) ed eseguito dai musicisti Francesco Scelzo e Enrico Valanzuolo.
Domenica 5 maggio c’è “What’s the word?” originale concerto degli olandesi Adam Quartet (vincitori del Merita) in cui la poesia di Samuel Beckett viene messa a confronto sia con l’opera “Septem verba Christi in cruce” di Franz Joseph Haydn (nella versione per quartetto d’archi del 1787) sia con il brano “Five Fizzles (for Samuel Beckett)” del compositore e contrabbassista inglese Barry Guy (Londra, 1947).
Letteratura e musica per domenica 19 maggio nel recital “Frammenti su tutto (il Manfred)” con musiche di Mertz, Coste e Schumann, adattate ed eseguite per chitarra dell’800 da Duilio Meucci, e testi di William Shakespeare, Lord Byron e Carmelo Bene per la voce recitante di Massimo Finelli.
Chiude la rassegna, domenica 26 maggio, il Quartetto Mitja con “Echi lirici” che accosta alla musica di Felix Mendelssohn e Gaetano Donizetti quella del veneziano Gianfrancesco Malipiero, tra i più grandi compositori del ‘900 italiano.

A Sunday with music: 6 dates in the neoclassical veranda. It begins with the Colbran duo
“A Sunday with music!”.The festival organized by the Scarlatti Association begins tomorrow, Sunday, April 7th, at 11 a.m., on the beautiful Villa Pignatelli located on the Chiaia Riviera.
Produced with the Campania Regional Museums Directorate and under the patronage of the Emiddio Mele Foundation, the initiative features six performances of music, words, and dance programmed in the beatiful setting of the Neoclassical Veranda at the Neapolitan museum. The event is being held in connection with the European project Merita (Music, Cultural Heritage, and Talent) and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region.
It starts with “Melodies from the World” by the Duo Colbran (soprano Giulia Lepore with Alba Brundo on harp, photo) which offer a journey through the compositions of operatic chamber music articulated by epochs, styles, and nationalities, from Pergolesi, through Bernstein to Luciano Berio.
It continues on Sunday, April 14th, with “Dancing on strings” by the Sonoro Quartet, a Merita-winning Belgian string ensemble composed of Sarah Jégou-Sageman and Jeroen De Beer on violin, Séamus Hickey on viola, and Léo Guiguen on cello. For the Naples concert, the young musicians will be joined on stage by dancer Giacomo Calabrese, who will present some original choreography to pieces by Franz Joseph Haydn and Bela Bartok.
Father and Son – Chasing Chet Baker, on Sunday, April 21st, presents the original “bio-concert,” written by Stefano Valanzuolo in dedication to the legendary American jazz musician. In the course of the theatrical tale, Antonello Cossia’s narrative voice is interwoven with the precious and evocative musical fabric rearranged (for guitar and trumpet) and performed by musicians Francesco Scelzo and Enrico Valanzuolo.
On Sunday, May 5th, there is a “What’s the word?” original concert by the Dutch Adam Quartet (Merita winners) in which Samuel Beckett’s poetry is compared to both the work “Septem verba Christi in cruce” by Franz Joseph Haydn (in the 1787 version for string quartet) and to the piece “Five Fizzles (for Samuel Beckett)” by English composer and double bassist Barry Guy (London, 1947).
Literature and music for Sunday, May 19th in the recital “Fragments on Everything (the Manfred)” with music by Mertz, Coste, and Schumann, adapted and performed for 19th-century guitar by Duilio Meucci, and texts by William Shakespeare, Lord Byron, and Carmelo Bene for the reciting voice of Massimo Finelli.
Closing the festival on Sunday, May 26th, is the Mitja Quartet with “Echi lirici,” which juxtaposes the music of Felix Mendelssohn and Gaetano Donizetti with that of the Venetian Gianfrancesco Malipiero, among the greatest composers of the Italian 20th century.
