Torna la sagra del mare a Procida. Alla sua settantaquattresima edizione, sarà presentata con una serata speciale il 12 luglio (madrina sarà l’attrice Cristina Donadio) e si svolgerà dal 26 al 30, promettendo di regalare momenti indimenticabili all’insegna della cultura teatrale e cinematografica, della musica, della fotografia e delle tradizioni locali.
Spiega il direttore artistico Giovanni Block: «Procida è teatro a mare aperto. Nell’isola, greca nel nome e nel carattere, tutto tra le sue case colorate rallenta, e chi la vive anche solo per pochi giorni è trasportato in una dimensione altra, sognante, eterna e profonda come un teatro, luogo dell’anima, che ci accoglie tra le sue stradine, portando la nostra mente altrove, permettendoci di sognare. E’ così che ho immaginato quest’anno la rievocazione storica del personaggio di Graziella. Coinvolgendo grandi artisti del teatro e della musica nostrana (e non solo) e mettendo in scena due serate (12 e 28 Luglio) che aspirano ad emulare quella bellezza a cui l’isola ci abitua da sempre».
Momento chiave della rassegna, infatti, è la rievocazione della Graziella, che affonda le sue radici nel romanzo “Graziella” di Alphonse de Lamartine. Durante questa celebrazione, giovani procidane, scelte per incarnare le virtù fisiche e morali della protagonista del romanzo, indosseranno il tradizionale abito “alla greca” con ricami d’oro, simbolo della ricca storia e cultura dell’isola. La Graziella (foto) è un omaggio alle donne di Procida e alla loro bellezza, eleganza e forza interiore.
La sagra del mare è molto più di una semplice festa. È un’immersione totale nella cultura, nella storia e nelle tradizioni di Procida. Dal 1939, anno della sua prima edizione, questo evento celebra il legame profondo tra l’isola e il mare, risorsa fondamentale per la comunità procidana. Oltre agli spettacoli, la manifestazione propone convegni, mostre e dibattiti che arricchiscono ulteriormente l’esperienza, permettendo ai visitatori di conoscere da vicino la vita e la storia dell’isola.

Procida/ The sea festival is back with Graziella in a theater of the soul
The sea Festival of Procida is back. In its seventy-fourth edition, it will be inaugurated with a special evening on July 12 (patroness is the actress Cristina Donadio) and will run from July 26 to 30, promising unforgettable moments of theater and film culture, music, photography and local traditions.
Artistic director Giovanni Block explains: “Procida is theater on the open sea. On the island, Greek in name and character, everything slows down among its colorful houses, and those who experience it, even for a few days, are transported to another dimension, dreamy, eternal and deep as the theater, a place of the soul that welcomes us into its narrow streets, takes our minds elsewhere, allows us to dream. This is how I imagined this year’s historical re-enactment of the role of Graziella. Involving great artists of the local theater and music (and not only) and staging two evenings (July 12th and 28th) that try to emulate that beauty to which the island has always accustomed us”.
A key moment of the festival is the representation of Graziella, which has its roots in the novel “Graziella” by Alphonse de Lamartine. During this celebration, young Procidans, chosen to embody the physical and moral virtues of the novel’s protagonist, wear the traditional “Greek” dress with gold embroidery, a symbol of the island’s rich history and culture. The Graziella is a tribute to the women of Procida and their beauty, elegance and inner strength.
The sea Festival is more than just a party. It is a total immersion in the culture, history and traditions of Procida. Since 1939, the year of its first edition, this event has celebrated the deep connection between the island and the sea, a fundamental resource for the Procida community. In addition to the performances, the event includes conferences, exhibitions and debates that enrich the experience and allow visitors to learn more about the life and history of the island.
