Sarà il regista Nazareno Manuel Nicoletti il prossimo ospite della rassegna di documentari Viaggio nel cinema del reale, curata da Arci Movie, ospitata nel cinema Astra di via Mezzocannone 109 a Napoli.
Venerdì 19 maggio alle 20:30 si presenterà infatti il suo film “Giù dal vivo” alla presenza del cast. La serata verrà introdotta da Giuseppe Borrone, storico del cinema e direttore artistico del Bagnoli Film Festival con un ricordo di Chiara Rigione, giovane regista scomparsa nei giorni scorsi.
AstraDoc le rende omaggio con la proiezione del suo cortometraggio “Domani chissà, forse”. La regista e montatrice avellinese, scomparsa prematuramente a 37 anni, era molto legata ad Arci Movie e quest’anno ha contribuito in maniera importante alla rassegna di documentari partecipando alla scelta delle opere e curando l’appuntamento speciale dello scorso 8 marzo con le giornate del cinema quebecchese. Per anni, come presidente di Kinetta, circolo Arci di Benevento, si è occupata della promozione e diffusione della cultura cinematografica indipendente attraverso incontri, rassegne, festival e altre iniziative.
“Giù dal vivo” (Italia, 2019, 74’) è una produzione Arci Movie, in collaborazione con Parallelo 41, realizzato e distribuito con il contributo della Regione Campania (Fondi Poc 2014-2020) e della Film Commission Regione Campania.
Prodotto da Antonio Borrelli, con Antonella Di Nocera quale produttore associato, il doc è stato presentato, in anteprima mondiale, in competizione nella sezione Documentari Internazionali al Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, ed è stato in concorso ufficiale a Filmmaker Festival e a Laceno d’oro, fuori concorso a Corto Dorico.
È ambientato in un mondo sotterraneo: una periferia globalizzata, un luogo in cui convivono ritratti cupi e beffardi di personaggi che non sanno stare al mondo.
C’è una vecchia strada che costeggia una ferrovia ammodernata negli anni Settanta, nel cuore della desolata Napoli Est. Ai margini del quartiere, palazzoni rossi ingoiati da lotti di cemento armato, un reticolato di case popolari, ruderi di progetti pubblici mai attivati, centri diurni, strutture socio-psichiatriche.
Su questo fondo, le vite segnate di un uomo con la sua voglia di andare altrove, di una ragazza che torna a casa, di un pugile mascherato chiuso nella sua stanza che osserva gli altri personaggi attraverso la sua Tv. Sguardi e vite che si toccano, sogni che si incrociano con allucinazioni e si dissolvono, tornando al punto di partenza, o forse no.
Spiega il regista che proviene dal centro sperimentale di cinematografia dell’Aquila: «Avevo iniziato con dei laboratori di cinema e fotografia dentro Ponticelli, in un Centro diurno di Ssalute mentale. Ogni mattina passavo tra San Giovanni, il Lotto O, le case popolari. Stavo cercando qualcosa. Ma non volevo parlare dei matti, almeno così come li conoscevo. Di letteratura, cinema, televisione ce n’è già troppa. Volevo che la realtà tradisse le mie aspettative, volevo sorprendermi nel trovare qualcosa di diverso da ciò che già sapevo. […] Il film parlava delle periferie. Ci sono Napoli, Milano, perfino Dortmund. Ma sembrano tutte la stessa città. Perché uno crede che basti fotografare questi spazi per spiegare tutto, la misera, il dolore, eppure per me c’è qualcosa di misterioso. A ogni angolo di strada ti dici che il prossimo svincolo è la via d’uscita, eppure le strade ti soffocano, e ti riportano sempre al punto di partenza. Come un labirinto».
AstraDoc prosegue con l’ultimo speciale appuntamento di venerdì 26 maggio: ci saranno Gianfranco Rosi insieme e la produttrice Donatella P per presentare il film In viaggio” che racconta i viaggi di Papa Francesco in nove anni di pontificato.

A journey into the cinema of the real: film director Nicoletti describes the pain of the suburbs
Director Nazareno Manuel Nicoletti will be the next guest of the documentary film festival Viaggio nel cinema del reale, curated by Arci Movie, hosted at the Astra cinema on Via Mezzocannone 109 in Naples.
On Friday, May 19 at 8:30 p.m., in fact, his film “Giù dal vivo” will be presented in the presence of the cast. The evening will be introduced by Giuseppe Borrone, film historian and artistic director of the Bagnoli Film Festival with a remembrance of Chiara Rigione, a young filmmaker who passed away in recent days.
AstraDoc will pay tribute to her with the screening of her short film “Tomorrow who knows, maybe.” The director and editor from Avellino, who passed away prematurely at the age of 37, was very close to Arci Movie, and this year she made an important contribution to the documentary film festival by participating in the selection of works and curating last March 8’s special Quebec Film Days event. For years, as president of Kinetta, an Arci club in Benevento, she has been involved in the promotion and dissemination of independent film culture through meetings, reviews, festivals and other initiatives.
“Giù dal vivo” (Italy, 2019, 74′) is an Arci Movie production, in collaboration with Parallelo 41, made and distributed with the contribution of the Campania Region (Poc Funds 2014-2020) and the Film Commission Regione Campania.
Produced by Antonio Borrelli, with Antonella Di Nocera as associate producer, the doc had its world premiere in competition in the International Documentaries section at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and was in official competition at Filmmaker Festival and Laceno d’oro, out of competition at Corto Dorico.
It is set in an underground world: a globalized suburb, a place where dark and mocking portraits of characters who do not know how to be in the world coexist.
There is an old road that runs alongside a railroad modernized in the 1970s, in the heart of desolate East Naples. At the edge of the neighborhood, red buildings swallowed by concrete lots, a grid of public housing, ruins of public projects never activated, day care centers, social-psychiatric facilities.
On this background, the marked lives of a man with his desire to go elsewhere, of a girl returning home, of a masked boxer locked in his room observing other characters through his TV. Glances and lives that touch each other, dreams that intersect with hallucinations and dissolve, returning to the starting point, or maybe not.
Explains the director, who comes from L’Aquila’s experimental film center.: “I had started with film and photography workshops inside Ponticelli, in a Mental Health Day Center. Every morning I was passing between San Giovanni, Lot O, the housing projects. I was looking for something. But I didn’t want to talk about the crazies, at least as I knew them. There is already too much of literature, film, television. I wanted reality to betray my expectations, I wanted to surprise myself in finding something different from what I already knew. […] The film was about the suburbs. There are Naples, Milan, even Dortmund. But they all look like the same city. Because one thinks it is enough to photograph these spaces to explain everything, the misery, the pain, and yet for me there is something mysterious. At every street corner you tell yourself that the next junction is the way out, and yet the streets choke you, and always bring you back to the starting point. Like a labyrinth.”
AstraDoc continues with the last special event on Friday, May 26: there will be Gianfranco Rosi together and producer Donatella Palermo to present the film In viaggio,” which narrates the travels of Pope Francis in the nine years of his pontificate.
