Artecinema 2023/ Magia e bellezza sul grande schermo: da Kiefer a un inedito Picasso. Ma c’è anche uno sguardo al femminile

Riecco Artecinema. Con la sua carrellata di corti sulle personalità artistiche e creative della scena contemporanea mondiale, ci regala magia e bellezza sul grande schermo fino a domenica 15 ottobre.
«Siamo da 28 anni insieme» sottolinea l’ideatrice Laura Trisorio, dal palco del sempre splendido teatro San Carlo, che ha accolto la serata inaugurale. Di fronte a una sala gremita, alcuni dei registi ospiti hanno brevemente parlato dei loro progetti come “Quand l’art sème en forêt” di Olivier Comte (corto sulla land-art e sul rapporto arte-artista-foresta) o “We Start with the Things We Find” di Thomas Piper (i cui protagonisti sono i napoletani Ada Tolla e Giuseppe Lignano, architetti trapiantati in America).

Guest star, il corto di Wim Wenders intitolato “Anselm” e incentrato sulle tappe della vita di Anselm Kiefer, innovativo artista del nostro tempo che con le sue creazioni ha riproposto temi etici, filosofici, religiosi e mitologici e che spesso si sono scontrate con il pubblico e la critica. Il regista lo ha seguito per circa due anni dando vita ad una pellicola che non manca del suo tocco, in cui la profondità dei dibattiti intimi umani si percepisce tutta (il dividersi tra bene e male, tra guerra e pace, la paura della morte e dell’amore…) in scena fatte di grandi silenzi, interrotti spesso solo da pochi rumori della natura o parole.

Ma naturalmente il programma è ben più vasto e quest’anno il filo conduttore è un po’ quello al femminile, non a caso anche il logo di questa edizione e la copertina del catalogo ne sono un richiamo. Finestre sui punti di vista delle registe e delle artiste sulle grandi e piccole battaglie contro le discriminazioni, per la sostenibilità ambientale, per l’equilibrio in se stessi e con la Madre Terra.
Inoltre si commemorano i 50 anni della morte di Picasso con la proiezione di “Picasso sans legend” di Manuelle Blanc che esalta gli aspetti meno indagati del maestro, come il suo attivismo politico in favore della democrazia.
Per la sezione fotografia, immancabili alcuni grandi nomi come McCurry e Luigi Ghirri ma soprattutto il film di Laura Poitras “Tutta la bellezza e il dolore” vincitore del Leone D’oro alle 79esima Mostra del Cinema di Venezia che racconta di Nan Goldin, fotografa contemporanea, attivista contro l’azienda farmaceutica Purdue della famiglia Sackler negli Stati Uniti, responsabile delle migliaia di morti nel paese a causa dell’ossicodone.
Come sempre la scelta delle proiezioni segue la scia del pensiero critico e dell’aprirsi a nuovi mondi che non sono altro che le idee e i pensieri di altri esseri umani, per portarci su nuove prospettive e superare i nostri limiti mentali.

Artecinema 2023/ Magic and beauty on the big screen: from Kiefer to an unknown Picasso. But there’s also a female perspective

Artecinema is back. With its overview of short films on the artistic and creative personalities of the contemporary world scene, it gives us magic and beauty on the big screen until Sunday, October 15th.
“We have been together for 28 years,” stressed creator Laura Trisorio, from the stage of the always splendid San Carlo Theater, which welcomed the opening night. In front of a crowded hall, some of the guest directors spoke briefly about their projects such as Olivier Comte’s “Quand l’art sème en forêt” (a short film about land-art and the artist-forest relationship) or Thomas Piper’s “We start with the things we find” (whose protagonists are Neapolitans Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano, architects transplanted to America).
Guest starring, Wim Wenders’ short film entitled “Anselm” and focusing on the life stages of Anselm Kiefer, an innovative artist of our time whose creations have reworked ethical, philosophical, religious and mythological themes, often clashing with audiences and critics. The director followed him for about two years, resulting in a film that does not lack his touch, in which the depth of intimate human debates are all felt (the gap between good and evil, war and peace, the fear of death and love…) in scenes of great silence, often interrupted only by a few sounds of nature or words.
But of course the program is much broader than that, and this year the common thread is a bit of a feminine one, not surprisingly even the logo of this edition and the cover of the catalog are a reminder of that. Windows into the perspectives of female directors and artists on the big and small battles against discrimination, for environmental sustainability, for balance in oneself and with Mother Earth.
In addition, the 50th anniversary of Picasso’s death will be commemorated with the screening of Manuelle Blanc’s “Picasso sans legend,” which exalts less investigated aspects of the master, such as his political activism in favor of democracy.
For the photography section, some big names such as McCurry and Luigi Ghirri are inevitable, but above all Laura Poitras’ film “All the beauty and pain” winner of the Golden Lion at the 79th Venice Film Festival, which tells the story of Nan Goldin, a contemporary photographer and activist against the Sackler family’s Purdue pharmaceutical company in the United States, responsible for the thousands of deaths in the country due to oxycodone.
As always, the choice of screenings follows the path of critical thinking and opening up to new worlds that are nothing more than the ideas and thoughts of other human beings, to take us to new perspectives and overcome our mental limitations.
