Grande attesa per “La domanda di matrimonio e altre storie “ di Cechov. La messinscena è inserita nel progetto “La tempesta del teatro” ideato ed attivato dalla Loups Garoux srl di Marta Bifano e Francesca Pedrazza Gorlero, sostenuto dal Comune di Napoli nell’ambito della terza edizione di “Affabulazione”.
L’iniziativa si ispira alla proposta di legge -“Disposizioni per la promozione e il sostegno delle attività teatrali negli istituti penitenziari” che punta a promuovere l’attività artistica con i detenuti. Il progetto propone l’allestimento e la realizzazione di due spettacoli nel carcere partenopeo Pasquale Mandato di Secondigliano diretto da Giulia Russo. Oltre “La domanda di matrimonio ed altre storie» di Anton Čechov (4 settembre, con 3 repliche fino al 7 settembre), anche “La Tempesta” di Shakespeare che debutterà il 2 ottobre con repliche fino al 12) .
Il teatro dentro le mura di Secondigliano allunga lo sguardo verso una società inclusiva: è il messaggio da cui parte l’esperienza di teatro carcere nell’ambito del laboratorio interno al penitenziario realizzato da un gruppo di artisti sotto la guida di Marta Bifano, che da anni s’ impegna per offrire un’opportunità di recupero alle persone recluse.
Spiega Bifano: «Ho individuato il copione di Cechov perché ben si presta adesaltare l’ironia e la profonda umanità. Ho deciso di proporlo ai detenuti che hanno accolto la proposta di collaborazione, reinventando il testo, originariamente composto da tre personaggi, trasformandolo in un lavoro corale con ben 34 attori sul palco».
Gli incontri del laboratorio sono stati condotti per tutta l’estate da Bifano con Arianna Bonardi. Lo spettacolo andrà avanti per tre rappresentazioni e vedrà il coinvolgimento delle famiglie dei detenuti, di reclusi di altri padiglioni del penitenziario, del personale tutto accanto a magistrati e educatori, tra cui Gabriella di Stefano, Gaia del Giudice e Francesco Pezone, che hanno supportato l’organizzazione dei laboratori di Teatro, costumi e scenografia.
I costumi di scena sono stati realizzati all’interno del carcere negli spazi dedicati alle attività artigianali dai detenuti con il supporto della stilista Anna Maria Mazza e dell’Atelier Marfella della Confraternita dei Sartori Napoletani. Prison of Secondigliano / Inmates put Chekhov and Shakespeare on the stage
Great expectations for Chekhov’s “The Marriage question and other stories”. The performance is part of the project “The Theatrical Storm”, conceived and activated by Marta Bifano and Francesca Pedrazza Gorlero’s Loups Garoux srl, supported by the Municipality of Naples within the framework of the third edition of “Affabulation”.
The initiative is inspired by the proposed law – “Provisions for the promotion and support of theatrical activities in penitentiary institutions”, which aims to promote artistic activities with prisoners. The project proposes the staging and production of two shows in the Neapolitan prison Pasquale Mandato in Secondigliano, directed by Giulia Russo. In addition to Anton Chekhov’s “The Proposal and Other Stories” (September 4, with 3 performances until September 7), also Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”, which will debut October 2 with performances until October 12) .
Theatre within the walls of Secondigliano looks towards an inclusive society: this is the message of the experience of prison theatre in the prison’s internal workshop, created by a group of artists under the direction of Marta Bifano, who for years has been committed to offering inmates a chance for recovery.
Bifano explains, “I chose Chekhov’s script because of its irony and deep humanity. I decided to propose it to the inmates, who accepted the idea of working together, reinventing the text, originally composed of three characters, and turning it into a choral work with up to 34 actors on stage.”
The workshop sessions were conducted by Bifano with Arianna Bonardi throughout the summer. The play will run for three performances and will involve the families of the inmates, prisoners from other pavilions of the prison, the entire staff, as well as magistrates and educators, including Gabriella di Stefano, Gaia del Giudice and Francesco Pezone, who helped organize the theatrical, costume and set design workshops.
The costumes were made inside the prison, in the rooms dedicated to handicraft activities, by the inmates with the support of the fashion designer Anna Maria Mazza and the Atelier Marfella of the Confraternity of Neapolitan Tailors.
