«Intelligenza naturale: fatti non foste a viver come bruti». Da questa frase parte l’edizione 2024 del festival “Un borgo di libri” , nel magnifico borgo medievale di Casertavecchia.
La rassegna è diretta da Luigi Ferraiuolo e promossa dall’amministrazione comunale di Caserta. «Sarà un festival controcorrente – spiega il direttore- e totalmente non virale – quanto di peggio da un punto di vista comunicativo si potesse pensare nella società dei social media – quello ideato a Casertavecchia per gli appassionati del pensiero, della riflessione, della bellezza. In una parola, per gli idealisti che sognano un mondo migliore e più giusto».
Il passo del canto venteseiesimo della Divina Commedia di Dante – quello in cui si parla di Ulisse, sottotraccia del tema del festival – chiarisce come la caratteristica dell’umanità sia la ricerca e il conseguimento delle virtù e della conoscenza: cioè la vera ragione dell’esistenza umana e non la delega alle macchine, per quanto intelligenti, della sovranità sull’esistente e l’esistenza.
Prologo del festival, come sempre negli ultimi anni, saranno i «Concerti di una notte di mezza estate», nella notte tra il 14 e il 15 agosto. I concerti sono promossi dall’associazione Anna Jervolino, con l’orchestra da Camera di Caserta, in collaborazione con la parrocchia cattedrale di San Michele Arcangelo a Casertavecchia e la proloco di Casertantica.
Il festival inizierà il 27 agosto e proseguirà fino al 15 settembre, nei vari fine settimana di agosto e settembre. Ma ci saranno appuntamenti anche a ottobre e durante l’anno: un modo per far continuare oltre settembre il festival, in particolari momenti simbolici e culturali dell’anno.
Non mancheranno mostre, ricordi e vere e proprie performance tra il borgo antico, San Leucio e Caserta centro, ma il velo sarà alzato un po’ alla volta.
Le locandine preparatorie del festival (come quella in foto) sono degli allievi dell’Istituto Superiore Grafico Palmieri Rampone di Benevento, diretto dal preside Nazzareno Miele, che hanno risposto a una call per le scuole sull’«intelligenza naturale/artificiale». Il tentativo delle immagini è di governare l’intelligenza artificiale e non lasciarsi governare.
Casertavecchia/ A village of books in the shadow of natural intelligence. To reflect on thought and beauty
“Natural intelligence: you were not created to live like beasts”. From this sentence starts the 2024 edition of the Festival “A Village of Books”, in the splendid medieval village of Casertavecchia.
The festival is directed by Luigi Ferraiuolo and promoted by the Municipality of Caserta. “It will be a festival against the tide”, explains the director, “and totally non-viral – how much worse from a communicative point of view could one think in the society of social media – the one conceived in Casertavecchia for lovers of thought, reflection, beauty. In a word, for idealists who dream of a better and more just world”.
The passage from the twenty-sixth canto of Dante’s Divine Comedy – the one in which Ulysses is mentioned, an undercurrent of the Festival’s theme – clarifies that the characteristic of humanity is the pursuit and attainment of virtues and knowledge: that is, the true reason for human existence and not the delegation of sovereignty over existence and existence to machines, however intelligent.
The prologue of the Festival, as always in the last years, will be the “Midsummer Night Concerts” on the night of August 14th and 15th. The concerts are promoted by the Anna Jervolino Association with the Caserta Chamber Orchestra, in collaboration with the Cathedral Parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Casertavecchia and the Casertantica prooco.
The festival will begin on August 27th and will last until September 15th, on different weekends in August and September. But there will also be events in October and throughout the year – a way to continue the festival beyond September, in particular symbolic and cultural moments of the year.
Between the historical center, San Leucio and the center of Caserta, there will be no lack of exhibitions, recollections and actual performances, but the veil will be lifted little by little.
The preparatory billboards for the festival (like the one in the photo) were created by students of the Palmieri Rampone Graphics High School in Benevento, under the direction of Director Nazzareno Miele, who responded to a call for schools on “natural/artificial intelligence”. The images attempt to control artificial intelligence and not to be controlled by it.
