La cultura non va in vacanza. E a Ferragosto in Italia si respira aria d’arte nei musei. Una notizia che era nell’aria da mesi, confermata poi da dalla recente nota diffusa dal ministero della cultura guidato dal giornalista napoletano Gennaro Sangiuliano.
E dunque, martedì 15 agosto musei e luoghi della cultura in Campania saranno aperti al pubblico con i consueti orari, modalità di accesso e biglietto ordinario e, per consentire la visita nel ponte, molti siti che ordinariamente restano chiusi di lunedì o martedì effettueranno un’apertura straordinaria, recuperando in altro giorno il riposo settimanale.
Farà così, infatti, il Museo archeologico nazionale di Napoli che lo annuncia sul sito rinviando la pausa della prossima settimana al mercoledì.
Un’occasione unica per ammirare, anche in una giornata festiva in cui negli anni ci siamo abituati a vagare nel deserto (napoletano) metropolitano, la bellezza di mostre come quella dedicata alla straordinaria figura di Alessandro (356 – 323 a.C.), l’eroe macedone che in poco più di dieci anni, accompagnato dai suoi fedeli compagni, divenne re dell’Asia e dell’Europa.
Oppure per farci sorprendere dalla raffinata esposizione (in corso fino al 27 agosto) “Picasso e l’antico”, curata da Clemente Marconi che s’inserisce nel progetto internazionale “Picasso Celebration 1973 – 2023: 50 mostre ed eventi per celebrare Picasso” nel cinquantenario della morte dell’artista. E che si snoda in due parti, nelle sale della collezione farnese: la prima legata ai soggiorni dell’artista spagnolo a Napoli; la seconda, la seconda concentrata sul confronto tra le opere del museo e i lavori del geniale e carismatico autore, uno dei più grandi del secolo breve.
Altrettanto imperdibile l’occasione per turisti e residenti di immergersi tra i grandi capolavori dell’arte accolti dal Museo di Capodimonte (che resterà aperto anche 11,12, 13, 14 agosto) un tempo residenza estiva del re Carlo di Borbone situata sulla collina che domina tutta la città con la sua vista panoramica. E anche di tuffarsi nell’oasi del Real Bosco, un’area verde incontaminata che si affaccia sulla città e sul golfo di Napoli.
Ferragosto diventa, dunque, una giornata speciale da trascorrere in un luogo di bellezza e tranquillità a pochi chilometri dal trambusto cittadino e meta prescelta dai viaggiatori del Grand Tour.
Il giorno di Ferragosto e domenica 13 saranno aperti: il secondo piano con il Salone degli Arazzi, la Galleria delle Arti a Napoli dal ‘200 al ‘700 e la mostra Oltre Caravaggio. Un nuovo racconto della pittura a Napoli dalle 8.30 fino alle 19.30 (ultimo ingresso alle 18.30).
Mentre la Compagnia Arcoscenico (Rodolfo Fornario e Antonella Quaranta), grazie all’associazione MusiCapodimonte intratterrà i visitatori con le sue performance teatrali raccontando al pubblico i segreti della storica residenza e dei suoi più celebri abitanti.
Inoltre, il pubblico è invitato a condividere le emozioni dei momenti trascorsi a Capodimonte, nel museo e nel bosco, sugli account ufficiali utilizzando l’hastag #domenicalmuseo: Facebook, Twitter e Instragram.
Apertura straordinaria a Ferragosto anche per la Reale Pontificia Basilica di San Giacomo degli Spagnoli in occasione della celebrazione della Madonna Assunta, grazie alla Reale Arciconfraternita e Monte del SS. Sacramento dei Nobili Spagnoli e al Comitato Partidarios De Santiago.
Qui, alle 20.30 ci sarà il concerto del Coro Suaviternova diretto dal maestro Pietro Biancardi, che proporrà la musica sacra. L’appuntamento è inserito nel progetto “Vedi Napoli d’estate e poi torni. Emozioni oltre stagione”, progetto sostenuto e promosso dall’assessorato al turismo e alle attività produttive del Comune di Napoli.
Infine, apre le porte il 15 agosto pure Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino), con ingresso libero e senza obbligo di prenotazione, consentendo l’accesso alla Piazza d’Armi (Cortile Monumentale) dalle 8:30 alle 14:00, con ultimo accesso alle 13.

Ferragosto al Museo/ Culture never goes on vacation: a long weekend of art strolling around Naples
Culture never goes on vacation. And on Ferragosto in Italy there is an air of art in the museums. News that had been in the air for months, then confirmed by the recent note published by the Ministry of Culture, led by Neapolitan journalist Gennaro Sangiuliano.
And so, on Tuesday, August 15, the museums and places of culture of the Regional Directorate of Museums of Campania will be open to the public with the usual hours, access mode and ordinary ticket, and, to allow visits in the bridge, many of the museums and places that normally remain closed on Mondays or Tuesdays will make an extraordinary opening on Monday, August 14 and Tuesday, August 15, making up the weekly rest on another day.
It will do so, in fact, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, which announces it on its website, postponing the weekly break to Wednesday. This is a unique opportunity to admire, even on a day when, over the years, we have become accustomed to wandering in the (Neapolitan) metropolitan desert, the beauty of exhibitions such as the one dedicated to the extraordinary figure of Alexander (356 – 323 B.C.), the Macedonian hero who, accompanied by his faithful companions, became king of Asia and Europe in little more than ten years.
Or the sophisticated exhibition (until August 27) “Picasso and the Ancient”, curated by Clemente Marconi, part of the international project “Picasso Celebration 1973 – 2023: 50 exhibitions and events to celebrate Picasso”, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the artist’s death. The exhibition is divided into two parts in the rooms of the Farnese Collection: the first part is linked to the Spanish artist’s stays in Naples; the second part focuses on the comparison between the museum’s works and those of the brilliant and charismatic artist, one of the greatest of the short century.
Tourists and locals alike should not miss the opportunity to immerse themselves in the great masterpieces on display at the Museo di Capodimonte (open August 11, 12, 13 and 14), once the summer residence of King Charles of Bourbon, located on the hill that dominates the entire city with its panoramic view. And also to dive into the oasis of the Real Bosco, an unspoiled green area overlooking the city and the Gulf of Naples.
Ferragosto will therefore be a special day to spend in a place of beauty and tranquility just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of the city and a favorite destination for travelers on the Grand Tour.
The day of Ferragosto and Sunday 13 will be open: the second floor with the Hall of Tapestries, the Gallery of Art in Naples from 1200 to 1700 and the exhibition Beyond Caravaggio. A new history of painting in Naples, from 8.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. (last admission at 6.30 p.m.).
While the Compagnia Arcoscenico (Rodolfo Fornario and Antonella Quaranta), thanks to the association MusiCapodimonte, will entertain the visitors with their theatrical performances, telling the public the secrets of the historical residence and its most famous inhabitants.
In addition, the public is invited to share the emotions of the moments spent in Capodimonte, in the museum and in the woods, on the official accounts using the hashtag #domenicalmuseo: Facebook, Twitter and Instragram.
Extraordinary opening on Ferragosto also for the Royal Pontifical Basilica of St. James of the Spaniards on the occasion of the celebration of Our Lady of the Assumption, thanks to the Royal Archconfraternity and Mount of the Blessed Sacrament of the Noble Spaniards and the Partidarios De Santiago Committee.
At 20:30 there will be a concert of sacred music by the Suaviternova Choir, conducted by Maestro Pietro Biancardi. The event is part of the project “See Naples in summer and then come back. Emotions beyond the season”, a project supported and promoted by the Department of Tourism and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Naples.
In addition, on August 15, the Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) will open its doors, with free admission and no reservation required, allowing access to the Piazza d’Armi (Monumental Courtyard) from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with last access at 1 p.m.
