In arrivo il Nocera Jazz Festival 2024. Si comincia il primo e il 3 luglio con il concerto del trombettista californiano Jeremy Pelt per proseguire, nel suo secondo appuntamento con il live della portoghese/capoverdiana Carmen Souza.
La direzione artistica è di Mario Berna, in collaborazione con l’amministrazione comunale di Nocera Inferiore e la Sofy Music. Otto giorni di eventi, per undici concerti, ricchi di live imperdibili con artisti proveniente dagli Stati Uniti, Brasile, Capo Verde/Portogallo, Cuba, Italia. Il programma è una celebrazione delle sonorità multietniche, dei colori, dei ritmi e i suoni che caratterizzano le musiche del mondo
Inaugura la rassegna nel cortile del Castello del Parco (inizio ore 21, biglietto euro 20 compresa prevendita qui) è il Jeremy Pelt New York Quintet, considerato uno dei talenti più promettenti del panorama jazz .
Nel quintetto troviamo la ritmica potente della nuova scena jazz newyorkese come Jared Spears alla batteria e Leighton Harrell al basso e il virtuoso Jalen Baker al vibrafono che porteranno al pubblico il nu jazz della migliore tradizione afro-americana.
Jeremy Pelt è considerato tra i migliori trombettisti della scena contemporanea, acclamatissimo dal grande pubblico statunitense e votato “Rising Star” della tromba negli ultimi cinque anni dalla prestigiosa testata Downbeat Magazine.
Nella sua carriera di giovane trombettista, si è esibito accanto a mostri sacri del calibro di Jimmy Heath, Frank Foster e Ravi Coltrane, fino ad arrivare a incidere con il grande Wayne Shorter. Ha prestato il prezioso sound della sua tromba alla Roy Hargrove Big Band, alla Village Vanguard Orchestra e alla Duke Ellington Big Band.
Sarà possibile visitare la mostra fotografica, dedicata agli artisti che si sono esibiti lo scorso anno al NJF , a cura di Felice Sellitti storico fotografo della città di Nocera.
Poi ci sarà la straordinaria cantante portoghese, di origine capoverdiana, Carmen Souza incanterà il pubblico con il suo carisma e la sua voce calda. Mercoledì si esibirà sul sagrato di S. Antonio (inizio ore 21.00 a ingresso gratuito su prenotazione qui fino ad esaurimento posti).
Nata da genitori capoverdiani a Lisbona, Carmen Souza è cresciuta con i suoni e le tradizioni delle isole. Spesso chiamata la Ella Fitzgerald di Capo Verde, è un punto di riferimento come pioniera femminile che scrive, registra ed esegue la sua formula di successo di World Jazz, in tutto il mondo.

The Nocera Jazz Festival 2024 is just around the corner. It begins on July 1st and 3rd with a concert by the Californian trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, to continue on the second day with a live performance by the Portuguese/Capoverdian Carmen Souza.
The artistic director is Mario Berna, in collaboration with the Municipality of Nocera Inferiore and Sofy Music. Eight days of events, for eleven concerts, full of must-see live performances with artists from the United States, Brazil, Cape Verde/Portugal, Cuba and Italy. The program is a celebration of the multiethnic sounds, colors, rhythms and tones that characterize the world’s music.
The festival will be opened by the Jeremy Pelt New York Quintet, one of the most promising talents on the jazz scene, in the courtyard of the castle park (starting at 9 p.m., ticket 20 euros including advance sale here).
The quintet features the rhythmic powerhouses of the new New York jazz scene, such as Jared Spears on drums and Leighton Harrell on bass, as well as virtuoso Jalen Baker on vibraphone, who will bring the audience Nu Jazz in the best Afro-American tradition.
Jeremy Pelt is considered one of the best trumpeters on the contemporary scene, highly acclaimed by audiences in the United States and named a “Rising Star” on the trumpet for the past five years by the prestigious Downbeat Magazine.
It will be possible to visit the photo exhibition dedicated to the artists who performed at the NJF last year, curated by Felice Sellitti, a historical photographer of the city of Nocera.
Then the extraordinary Portuguese singer of Cape Verdean origin, Carmen Souza, will enchant the audience with her charisma and warm voice. On Wednesday, she will perform in the cemetery of St. Anthony (starting at 9 p.m., free admission by reservation here while seats last).
Born in Lisbon to Cape Verdean parents, Carmen Souza grew up with the sounds and traditions of the islands. Often called the Ella Fitzgerald of Cape Verde, she is a trailblazer who writes, records and performs her successful world jazz formula around the world.
Before the concerts at the Fienga Park Castle, from 7 to 8:45 p.m. there will be guided tours, thanks to the volunteers of the association Ridiamo Vita al Castello. For the concert at the Monumental Steps of St. Anthony, the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Agro Nocerino, the Convent of St. Anthony and the Picture Gallery, from 7 to 9 p.m., ciceroni will be volunteers from the associations Noukrìa and Urbe.
For the concert at the Convent of St. Anna, from 7 to 9 p.m., the protagonists will be volunteers from the Nuceria Alfaterna Archeoclub association. Finally, for the concert in the courtyard of the Diocesan Curia, there will be visits to the Diocesan Museum “San Prisco”, from 7 to 9 p.m., thanks to volunteers from the above-mentioned associations, with director Salvatore Alfano.
