Il noto artista materano Franco Di Pede è in mostra fino al primo marzo da Lineadarte officina creativa di Giovanna Donnarumma e Gennaro Ippolito, con “Matera: l’astrazione geometrica di un paesaggio culturale. Porte e finestre” (foto).
Di Pede, classe 1937, nasce e vive nella città dei sassi ma si forma artisticamente a Napoli e opera in vari ambiti: architettura, pittura, scultura, fotografia fino al design. Interessato e coinvolto in prima linea nella conservazione degli antichi quartieri materani, diventa protagonista di spicco per la propria cultura. La sua consapevolezza in tal senso, si profila dagli anni 70 e 80 in poi.
La linea dei suoi elaborati è essenziale ma non un essenziale scevro, bensì un minimalismo che coglie pienamente le peculiarità che riportano alla mente Matera: i pieni e i vuoti, le aperture come piccoli occhi ma anche come una sequenza, come un paragrafo con caratteri indecifrabili o uno spartito di uno strumento sconosciuto, il colore del tufo che è all’origine di tutto.
E’ oggettivamente Matera quella che vedi ma al tempo stesso è soggettiva e intimista. Sicuramente restituisce anche l’amore dell’artista per la sua città (la sua stessa casa/studio è in una cava) con una sintesi che sfrutta materiali poveri ma ricchi di significato nelle forme che assumono. Alla base della concettualità dell’opera ci sono le geometrie così come le sovrapposizioni, il linguaggio è il segno, la stilizzazione. Ogni riquadro è individuale ma anche parte del tutto, una sorta skyline destrutturata.
Lineadarte accompagna bene questo racconto, con le sue altrettanto essenziali linee curve e rette, un racconto che è un tributo a uno dei più bei patrimoni del nostro Paese. Ingresso gratuito.

The well-known artist Franco Di Pede is exhibiting until the first of March at Giovanna Donnarumma and Gennaro Ippolito’s ‘Linea d’arte Officina Creativa’ with ‘Matera: the geometric abstraction of a cultural landscape. Doors and Windows’.
Di Pede, born in 1937, lives and works in the city of stones, but was trained as an artist in Naples and works in various fields: architecture, painting, sculpture, photography and design. Interested and involved in the frontline of the conservation of Matera’s ancient districts, he has become a leading figure in his own culture. In this sense, his awareness was very important in the 70s and 80s.
The line of his works is essential, but his minimalism fully grasps the peculiarities that remind us of Matera: the solids and the voids, the openings like little eyes, but also like a sequence, like a paragraph of indecipherable characters or the score of an unknown instrument, the colour of the tuff that is at the origin of everything.
It is objectively Matera that you see but at the same time it is subjective and intimist. It certainly also conveys the artist’s love for his city (his own home/studio is in a quarry) with a synthesis that uses poor materials but is rich in meaning in the forms they take. Underlying the conceptuality of the work are geometries as well as superimpositions, the language is the sign, the stylisation. Each square is individual but also part of the whole, a kind of deconstructed skyline.
