Maggio della musica in Villa Pignatelli. Nell’antica dimora della Riviera di Chiaia a Napoli domani domenica 29 ottobre alle ore 11, la rassegna (realizzata in collaborazione con la direzione regionale Musei Campania) propone una mattinata di jazz con i napoletani Emilia Zamuner (voce) e Fabrizio Soprano (pianoforte).
Il concerto si intitola “The Gershwin songbook” ed è dedicato alla musica del grande George Gershwin, considerato l’iniziatore del musical statunitense, e al librettista e paroliere Ira Gershwin, suo fratello, autore dei testi di molte sue opere, tra cui la più nota è Porgy and Bess.
Una mattinata che si preannuncia diversa dalle altre. Come affermava il compositore austriaco Arnold Schoeberg: «Molti musicisti non considerano Gershwin un compositore serio, ma costoro dovrebbero capire che, a prescindere dal livello di serietà, qui si sta parlando di un compositore vero, ossia di un uomo che ha vissuto immerso nella musica e ha espresso qualsiasi cosa, profonda o superficiale che fosse. Non so se la storia valuterà Gershwin alla stregua di Johann Strauss, Debussy, Offenbach, Brahms o Puccini. So che Gershwin è stato un artista autentico, un compositore vero. So che ha saputo esprimere nuove idee musicali, dando ad esse una forma mai vista prima».

May Music at Villa Pignatelli. In the ancient villa on the Riviera di Chiaia in Naples, tomorrow, Sunday, October 29th, at 11 a.m., the Festival (organized in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Museums of Campania) offers a morning of jazz with Neapolitans Emilia Zamuner (voice) and Fabrizio Soprano (piano).
The concert is entitled “The Gershwin songbook” and is dedicated to the music of the great George Gershwin, considered the initiator of the American musical, and to the librettist and lyricist Ira Gershwin, his brother, author of the lyrics of many of his works, the most famous of which is Porgy and Bess.
A morning that promises to be unlike any other. As the Austrian composer Arnold Schoeberg said: “Many musicians do not consider Gershwin to be a serious composer, but they should understand that, regardless of the level of seriousness, we are talking about a real composer, that is, a man who lived immersed in music and expressed everything, whether profound or superficial. I do not know if history will judge Gershwin in the same way as Johann Strauss, Debussy, Offenbach, Brahms or Puccini. I do know that Gershwin was an authentic artist, a true composer. I know that he was able to express new musical ideas and give them a form that had never been seen before.
