MagicaMente. Non poteva esserci un titolo più azzeccato per la rassegna che quest’anno giunge alla sua quarta edizione e ha adesso come scenario la magnifica Reggia borbonica di Portici.
Parte dal mare la manifestazione che si inaugura sabato 8 giugno alle 21, negli spazi del Campo della Pallacorda, organizzata dal Pozzo e il Pendolo Teatro di Napoli (in caso di pioggia gli spettacoli si sposteranno al chiuso nel Galoppatoio).
Il progetto, infatti, nasce come spazio condiviso con artisti e compagnie, che ha ricercato cornici suggestive, luoghi alternativi ai teatri, dove fare riecheggiare il teatro.
Nelle prime due edizioni la manifestazione è stata itinerante, ospitata a Castel dell’Ovo, al Chiostro di San Domenico Maggiore, al Maschio Angioino, al Museo Ferroviario di Pietrarsa.
Dallo scorso anno è stata scelta una sede stabile e prestigiosa per consolidare l’identità della rassegna con un ampio calendario di appuntamenti.
Spiega la direttrice artistica Annamaria Russo: «Tre anni fa è nato come un esperimento che aveva il carattere di un azzardo: realtà distanti fisicamente e con vocazioni molto diverse, s’incontravano per mettere a punto un’idea che facesse centro sulla bellezza. MagicaMente è diventata una realtà che ci ha regalato risultati di gran lunga superiori a quelli sperati. Un bilancio che ci ha stimolati non semplicemente a replicare, ma a rilanciare».
Saranno notti magiche per il pubblico che assisterà sotto le stelle ai 3 spettacoli programmati in questo primo segmento: si comincia con Novecento con Paolo Cresta dal testo di Alessandro Baricco. Una fiaba struggente, amara, dolcissima: è la storia di un pianista eccezionale, capace di suonare una musica meravigliosa, una musica che non esiste da nessuna altra parte che non sia l’oceano.
La seconda tappa di questo viaggio teatrale è affidato alla scrittura del Nobel Gabriel Garcia Màrquez: in scena, infatti, Cent’anni di solitudine, il capolavoro dello scrittore colombiano guidato’ dalle parole di Paolo Cresta e accompagnato dalla musica viva dei Ringe Ringe Raja, nell’adattamento e regia di Annamaria Russo e Ciro Sabatino. Una preghiera laica, dedicata all’immensità della letteratura.
Terzo appuntamento, sabato 22 giugno con Tu, mio di Erri de Luca, con Nico Ciliberti e Giacinto Piracci, per la regia di Annamaria Russo. Amore straniante sullo sfondo dell’isola d’Ischia. Il mare, la musica, le voci dei pescatori e quelle più lontane di una guerra finita da poco “raccontano” l’affresco di un’epoca e di un’età difficili.

MagicaMente/Reggia di Portici: Theater under the stars. There’s also Gabriel García Márquez’s masterpiece “One hundred years of solitude”.
MagicaMente. There could not be a more appropriate title for this festival, now in its fourth year, which will be held in the splendid Bourbon Palace of Portici.
The event, which opens on Saturday, June 8th at 9 p.m. in the spaces of the Campo della Pallacorda, starts from the sea, organized by the Pozzo e il Pendolo Teatro di Napoli (in case of rain, the shows will be moved inside to the Galoppatoio).
In fact, the project was born as a shared space with artists and companies looking for suggestive spaces, alternative places to the theater, where to make theater echo.
In the first two editions, the event was itinerant, hosted by the Castel dell’Ovo, the Cloister of San Domenico Maggiore, the Maschio Angioino and the Pietrarsa Railway Museum.
Since last year, a stable and prestigious venue has been chosen to consolidate the festival’s identity with a full calendar of events.
Artistic director Annamaria Russo explains: “Three years ago it began as an experiment that had the character of a gamble: realities that were physically distant and with very different vocations met to develop an idea that focused on beauty. MagicaMente has become a reality that has given us results far beyond what we had hoped for. An equilibrium that has led us not only to reproduce, but also to create”.
These will be magical nights for the public who will be able to enjoy under the stars the 3 shows scheduled in this first part: it starts with Novecento with Paolo Cresta, from the text by Alessandro Baricco. A poignant, bitter, very sweet fairy tale: it is the story of an exceptional pianist, capable of playing wonderful music, music that exists nowhere else but in the sea.
The second stage of this theatrical journey is entrusted to the book by Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez: a production of One Hundred Years of Solitude, guided by the words of Paolo Cresta and accompanied by the live music of Ringe Ringe Raja, adapted and directed by Annamaria Russo and Ciro Sabatino. A secular prayer dedicated to the immensity of literature.
Third event, Saturday, June 22, with Tu, mio by Erri de Luca, with Nico Ciliberti and Giacinto Piracci, directed by Annamaria Russo. A love story set against the backdrop of the island of Ischia. The sea, the music, the voices of the fishermen and the more distant voices of a recently ended war “tell” the fresco of a difficult time and age.
