Chi è devoto a San Gennaro? Parte da un interrogativo nel titolo la video installazione del Tesoro di San Gennaro, che da oggi si può ammirare visitando il museo: è prodotta e promossa da D’Uva srl (azienda che gestisce il museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro), progettata e realizzata da Kaos Produzioni (foto).
Un progetto artistico permanente nella sala della mitra, che va ad arricchire il percorso consentendo al pubblico di immergersi in un racconto speciale delle diverse forme e segni della devozione popolare e delle celebrazioni dei prodigi di faccia gialla.
Nasce da un’idea di Ilaria D’Uva e Francesca Ummarino con l’intento di completare il percorso museale con un’esperienza unica e contemporanea che trasmetta al visitatore l’emozione e l’energia delle tre date del prodigio della liquefazione del sangue, il mistero del culto, la vita vera della devozione, le straordinarie diverse espressioni religiose e popolari di ogni genere di pubblico. Un viaggio attraverso le immagini di simboli, volti, gesti e preghiere pervivere il museo in modo nuovo e contemporaneo alla scoperta di quell’inscindibile rapporto tra la città di Napoli e il suo Santo Patrono.
In occasione della new entry, il Tesoro di San Gennaro propone un’apertura straordinaria venerdì 21 e sabato 22 giugno dalle 18 alle ore 22 (ultimo ingresso ore 21) con biglietto d’ingresso a tariffa speciale al costo ridotto di 6 € (invece di 12 €.). Nel cortile del museo sarà allestito uno “specchio per selfie” che consentirà a tutti i visitatori di diventare “devoto a San Gennaro” catturando il momento preferito da dedicare al Santo Patrono con l’hashtag #chièdevotoasangennaro.
Ma cosa vedrete? In primis,cinque video proiezioni in dialogo con i gioielli simbolo della devozione per San Gennaro, la mitra e la collana solenne: sulla parete frontale due cornici, che rievocano la forma di edicole votive, contengono i ritratti dei “devoti” che rivolgono le loro preghiere a San Gennaro, ognuno con il proprio intimo rapporto con il Santo. Figure di uomini, donne e bambini esprimono la fede per San Gennaro, in tutta la loro umana diversità e meravigliosa varietà.
Sulla seconda parete frontale sequenze di frammenti che rappresentano l’iconografia del Santo, insieme alle immagini della solenne processione di maggio dal Duomo alla Basilica di Santa Chiara, tra realtà e finzione.
Sulle pareti laterali, immagini evocative che ricreano un’ambientazione straordinaria e onirica e il motto a San Gennaro scritto da Friedrich Nietzsche: “Tu che con l’asta fiammeggiante rompesti il ghiaccio della mia anima, che ora rumoreggiando corre al mare della sua estrema speranza: sempre più chiara e più sana, libera nella più amorosa delle leggi, celebra quindi i tuoi miracoli, bellissimo Gennaro”.
Infine, un omaggio speciale a Marcello Colasurdo: ascolterete la voce dell’artista mentre recita le sue parole per San Gennaro, che hanno ispirato anche il titolo della video installazione.

Museum of Treasures/ Who is devoted to St. Gennaro: a (new) video installation in conversation with the jewels of the patron.
Who is devoted to San Gennaro? This is the question posed by the title of the video installation on the Treasure of San Gennaro, which can be admired from today during a visit to the Museum: it is produced and promoted by D’Uva srl (the company that manages the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro), designed and produced by Kaos Produzioni.
A permanent art project in the Mitre Room, it enriches the itinerary by allowing the public to immerse themselves in a special narrative of the various forms and signs of popular devotion and celebration of the yellow-faced prodigies.
It is the brainchild of Ilaria D’Uva and Francesca Ummarino with the intention of complementing the Museum’s itinerary with a unique and contemporary experience that conveys to the visitor the excitement and energy of the three dates of the blood liquefaction prodigy, the mystery of worship, the true life of devotion and the extraordinary different religious and popular expressions of all kinds of audiences. A journey through images of symbols, faces, gestures and prayers to experience the museum in a new and contemporary way, to discover the inseparable relationship between the city of Naples and its Patron Saint.
On the occasion of the new entry, the Treasure of St. Gennaro offers an extraordinary opening on Friday June 21st and Saturday June 22nd from 6 to 10 p.m. (last entry at 9 p.m.) with a special admission at a reduced price of 6 € (instead of 12 €). A “selfie mirror” will be set up in the museum’s courtyard, allowing all visitors to become “devotees of San Gennaro” by capturing their favorite moment and dedicating it to the patron saint with the hashtag #whoisdevotoasangennaro.
But what will you see? First of all, five video projections in dialogue with the symbolic jewels of devotion to St. Gennaro, the mitre and the solemn chain: on the front wall, two frames, reminiscent of votive aedicules, contain portraits of “devotees” who address their prayers to St. Gennaro, each with their own intimate relationship with the Saint. Figures of men, women and children express the faith in St. Gennaro in all its human diversity and wonderful variety.
On the second front wall, sequences of fragments of the iconography of the Saint, together with images of the solemn May procession from the Cathedral to the Basilica of Santa Chiara, between reality and fiction.
On the side walls, evocative images recreate an extraordinary, dreamlike setting and the motto to St. Gennaro written by Friedrich Nietzsche: “You who with a flaming rod broke the ice of my soul, which now rushes to the sea of its extreme hope: ever clearer and healthier, free in the most loving laws, therefore celebrate your miracles, beautiful Gennaro”.
Finally, a special tribute to Marcello Colasurdo: you will hear the artist’s voice reciting his words for San Gennaro, which also inspired the title of the video installation.
