Concerto per Giovanbattista. L’iniziativa dedicata al giovane musicista ucciso da un sedicenne in piazza Municipio aprirà la V edizione di Unimusic, il Festival della musica e della cultura per Napoli, ideato e realizzato dalla Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti in collaborazione con l’Università Federico II.
L’Orchestra ha deciso di non fermarsi e di suonare in tutti gli eventi programmati per continuare a combattere la violenza con le armi della bellezza. Il Festival si inaugura domenica 10 e termina il 29 settembre.
Oggi alle 18.30, nel Cortile delle statue della Federico II, accanto ai ragazzi dell’Orchestra Scarlatti e al maestro Gaetano Russo, come sempre ci saranno anche il rettore Matteo Lorito e la prorettrice Rita Mastrullo, stavolta per ricordare, in una delle sedi che lo ha visto più volte protagonista con il suo corno, il giovane e talentuoso musicista tragicamente strappato alla vita.
Lorito ricorda: «L’Ateneo federiciano accoglie ancora una volta l’Orchestra Scarlatti ospitandola, come di consueto, nei suoi spazi, in questo caso per una manifestazione che realizziamo insieme ormai da cinque edizioni. L’Ateneo ha da tempo notevolmente incrementato le risorse a favore di questa compagine musicale, fornendo non solo una sede ma anche finanziando numerosi concerti che puntualmente si svolgono in diversi luoghi dell’Università e sempre gratuiti e aperti al pubblico».
Il concerto del 10 settembre ha ovviamente un significato particolare alla luce della tragedia che ha colpito la Scarlatti e tutta la città. «Sarà dedicato – conclude il rettore – a Giogiò Cutolo e l’austero ma bellissimo Cortile delle Statue farà da palcoscenico alle note dei musicisti. Insieme al cordoglio e al dolore la musica porterà però anche la volontà di riscatto e un preciso messaggio: di non abbandonare mai il campo, rinnovando gli sforzi quotidiani di fare della cultura, dell’arte e della musica gli estintori del fuoco della violenza».

Concert for Giovanbattista. The initiative dedicated to the young musician who was killed by a 16-year-old in Piazza Municipio will open the fifth edition of Unimusic, the Festival of Music and Culture for Naples, conceived and implemented by the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti in collaboration with Federico II University.
The Orchestra has decided not to stop and to play at all scheduled events to continue to fight violence with the weapons of beauty. The festival opens on Sunday, September 10, and ends on September 29.
Today at 6:30 p.m., in the Statue Courtyard of the Federico II, alongside the Scarlatti Orchestra students and maestro Gaetano Russo, as always, there will also be Rector Matteo Lorito and Provost Rita Mastrullo, this time to remember, in one of the venues that has seen him several times with his horn, the young and talented musician tragically snatched from life.
Lorito recalls, “The Federiciano Athenaeum once again welcomes the Scarlatti Orchestra by hosting it, as usual, in its spaces, in this case for an event that we have been carrying out together for five editions now. The Athenaeum has long significantly increased its resources in favor of this musical ensemble, providing not only a venue but also financing numerous concerts that punctually take place in different places of the University and are always free and open to the public.”
The September 10 concert obviously has special significance in the light of the tragedy that affected Scarlatti and the entire city. “It will be dedicated,” the rector concludes, “to Giogiò Cutolo, and the austere but beautiful Cortile delle Statue will be the stage for the musicians’ notes. Along with the condolences and sorrow, however, the music will also bring the will for redemption and a precise message: to never leave the field, renewing daily efforts to make culture, art and music the extinguishers of the fire of violence.”
