Alla città della sirena Partenope saranno restituiti i suoi due parchi, specchi di un antico splendore, il Virgiliano a Posillipo e la Villa comunale (foto), che guarda il mare il mare dal cuore di Chiaia. Presentati stamattina al Comune di Napoli i progetti, per u investimento complessivo di 7 milioni e 700 mila euro.
Da tempo la cittadinanza auspicava la rinascita di queste gemme verdi, ormai spente dall’incuria. E finalmente sembra che il decisivo passo sia compiuto.
Lo annuncia l’assessore comunale al verde, Vincenzo Santagada: «Parte questo percorso che riconsegna a Napoli due tra il luoghi più belli dal punto di vista culturale, artistico, paesaggistico e storico».
Pe la villa comunale, voluta da Ferdinando IV di Borbone, su progetto di Carlo Vanvitelli, figlio del più celebrato Luigi, è previsto il recupero delle aiuole, degli alberi, delle aree architettoniche e degli elementi di arredo urbano con l’adeguamento dell’impianto idrico e d’illuminazione, nella zona che si estende da piazza della Repubblica alla cassa armonica, interventi finanziati da Città metropolitana e risorse del Pnrr: serviranno a risistemare anche un’unica grande area giochi e migliorare la sicurezza con un nuovo circuito di videosorveglianza.
Ritorneranno a splendida vita, dunque, l’anima botanica dell’antico giardino, nonché quella artistica, con il riassetto della pavimentazione.
I lavori del Virgiliano, che risale ai primi del Novecento, chiamato un tempo Parco della rimembranza, riguarderanno la risistemazione dei giardini e la ridefinizione delle aree giochi oltre al restauro della fontana e dei viali, e all’intervento al verde con un incremento delle alberature. Sarà valorizzato ugualmente l’ingresso al parco (con le 4 anfore che sovrastano le rispettive colonne) e sarà previsto pure un adeguato sistema di videosorveglianza insieme al restyling della area verde sportiva.
Lunga la gestazione progettuale, dovuta anche ai vincoli della soprintendenza, ma i lavori dovrebbero (finalmente) cominciare a marzo, e il 2025 sarò l’anno in cui cittadine e cittadini potranno riassaporare il gusto della rifioritura (nel vero senso della parola) di due angoli iconici di Napoli. Non è mai troppo tardi.

The city of the Siren Partenope will finally get back its two parks, mirrors of an ancient splendor, the Virgiliano in Posillipo and the Villa Comunale (photo), which overlooks the sea from the heart of Chiaia. Presented this morning to the City of Naples the projects, for a total investment of 7 million 700 thousand euros.
Citizens have long hoped for the rebirth of these green gems, now extinguished by neglect. And finally it seems that the decisive step has been taken.
This was announced by the City Councillor for Green Areas, Vincenzo Santagada: “This is the beginning of the path that will give back to Naples two of the most beautiful places from a cultural, artistic, landscape and historical point of view”.
For the Villa Municipale, commissioned by Ferdinando IV of Borbone and designed by Carlo Vanvitelli, son of the more famous Luigi, it is planned to restore the flowerbeds, trees, architectural areas and elements of the street furniture, with the adjustment of the water and lighting system, in the area that extends from Piazza della Repubblica to the Sound Box, interventions financed by the Metropolitan City and resources of the Pnrr: they will also serve to rearrange a single large play area and improve security with a new video surveillance circuit.
In this way, the botanical soul of the ancient garden will be brought back to life, as well as the artistic one, with the redesign of the paving.
The works on the Virgiliano, which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and was once called the Park of Remembrance, will include the redesign of the gardens, the transformation of the play areas, the restoration of the fountain and the avenues, and the landscaping with an increase in the number of trees. The entrance to the park (with the 4 amphoras above the respective columns) will also be improved, and an adequate video surveillance system will be provided along with the restyling of the green sports area.
The project has taken a long time, partly due to the constraints imposed by the authorities, but the work will (finally) begin in March and in 2025 the citizens will once again have the opportunity to taste the blossoming (literally) of two emblematic corners of Naples. It is never too late.
