La Maschera nel rione Sanità. Venerdì 14 luglio, alle 21, a poco più di un anno dall’uscita dell’ultimo disco, ‘Sotto chi tene core’, la band partenopea torna a casa per festeggiare con un concerto gratuito i dieci anni di musica suonata sui palchi di tutta Italia.
«Suonare nella nostra città è la cosa più bella di tutte – dice Roberto Colella, frontman del gruppo. È passato poco più di anno dall’uscita di Sotto chi tene core, un album che parla di riscatto sociale e sentimentale, un invito ad alzare lo sguardo e farsi avanti. Storie vere, dove l’urlo di chi non ha voce diventa grido di battaglia. In questi mesi abbiamo suonato un po’ ovunque, da nord a sud dell’Italia. Ma l’emozione e l’affetto che respiriamo quando torniamo a casa è qualcosa di indescrivibile. Inoltre, ci sono 10 anni di carriera da festeggiare! Grazie a chi ci vuole bene, a chi si fa centinaia di chilometri per sentirci suonare… portare in giro Mirella, Felice Pignataro, Thomas Sankara, le storie di quotidianità e resistenza, è per noi un grande onore, che ci riempie di gioia».
Non mancheranno i brani più famosi della band, da Pullecenella a La Confessione, da Te vengo a cercà a Senza fa rummore, contenuti nei precedenti album, ‘O vicolo ‘e l’allerìa e ParcoSofia.
La Maschera è composta da Roberto Colella (voce/tastiera/chitarra), Vincenzo Capasso (tromba), Alessandro Morlando (chitarra elettrica), Antonio ‘Gomez’ Caddeo (basso e contrabbasso), Marco Salvatore (batteria) e Michele Maione (percussioni). L’evento rientra nel programma di iniziative estive promosse e finanziate dell’Assessorato al Turismo e alle Attività produttive del Comune di Napoli.
CHI SONO
Sin dall’uscita del loro primo album ‘O vicolo ‘e l’allerìa nel novembre 2014, La Maschera ha preso il suo posto nella scena musicale napoletana come una delle band indipendenti più interessanti. Subito il progetto si fa notare per il suo notevole tasso di sperimentazione, tanto da collocarsi, a pieno titolo, in un solco dal sound marcatamente “World”. A conferma dell’attitudine alla contaminazione stilistica, arriva, nell’estate del 2015, l’incontro con Laye Ba, musicista senegalese: occasione di reciproco arricchimento umano ed artistico, da cui sono nati due brani composti ed eseguiti insieme. Dopo il tour senegalese, nel novembre 2017, è stato pubblicato il loro secondo album, intitolato ParcoSofia. Nell’autunno 2018, La Maschera ha portato la sua musica all’estero: dal 12 al 19 ottobre sono stati in tour in Portogallo, dal 25 al 29 ottobre erano presenti al Womex a Gran Canaria (Spagna), e dal 20 al 30 novembre sono stati in Canada per un mini-tour, ospiti dell’Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Montreal.
Nel novembre 2018 si sono aggiudicati il Premio Andrea Parodi, il più prestigioso riconoscimento italiano per la World Music.
Nel 2019 dopo il loro nuovo tour nazionale, che li porta ad esibirsi in dodici delle maggiori città italiane, partono per la Corea del Sud dove incontrano il favore di addetti ai lavori e pubblico nei festival Seoul Music Week, e Suseong World Music Festival.
Di ritorno dalla Corea, tra le altre date del loro tour, calcano i palchi di importanti festival nazionali e internazionali quali lo Szieget, l’Home Festival, il Folkest e il Giffoni Music Concept.
Prosegue anche la loro attività in studio che li vede pubblicare, a cavallo tra il 2019 e il 2020, due nuovi singoli: ‘A cosa justa, struggente ballata su un amore perduto, e Se mai fossi, cover del brano Se tu és o meu amor di Vitorino, leggenda della canzone popolare portoghese che ha voluto partecipare con La Maschera sia alla registrazione del brano sia alla data napoletana del tour.
Il 13 maggio 2022 è uscito Sotto chi tene core, il terzo album di inediti della band.

Rione Sanità/ La Maschera celebrates ten years of music with a concert (July 14)
On Friday 14 July, at 9pm, La Maschera will be in concert in the heart of Sanità. A little over a year after the release of their last album, ‘Sotto chi tene core’, the Neapolitan band returns home to celebrate ten years of music played on stages all over Italy with a free concert.
«Playing in our city is the best thing of all,’ says Roberto Colella, frontman of La Maschera. It has been a little over a year since the release of Sotto chi tene core, an album that speaks of social and sentimental redemption, an invitation to look up and come forward. True stories, where the cry of the voiceless becomes a battle cry. In recent months we have played a little everywhere, from the north to the south of Italy. But the emotion and affection we breathe when we return home is something indescribable. Besides, there are 10 years of our career to celebrate! Thanks to those who love us, to those who travel hundreds of kilometres to hear us play… to take Mirella, Felice Pignataro, Thomas Sankara, the stories of everyday life and resistance on tour is a great honour for us, which fills us with joy».
There will also be the band’s most famous songs, from Pullecenella to La Confessione, from Te vengo a cercà to Senza fa rummore, from their previous albums, ‘O vicolo ‘e l’allerìa and ParcoSofia.
La Maschera consists of Roberto Colella (vocals/keyboard/guitar), Vincenzo Capasso (trumpet), Alessandro Morlando (electric guitar), Antonio ‘Gomez’ Caddeo (bass and double bass), Marco Salvatore (drums) and Michele Maione (percussion).
The event is part of the programme of summer initiatives promoted and financed by the Department of Tourism and Productive Activities of the City of Naples.
About them
Since the release of their first album ‘O vicolo ‘e l’allerìa in November 2014, La Maschera has taken its place in the Neapolitan music scene as one of the most interesting independent bands. Immediately, the project stands out for its remarkable rate of experimentation, so much so as to place itself, in its own right, in a groove with a distinctly ‘World’ sound. Confirming their aptitude for stylistic contamination, in the summer of 2015 came the meeting with Laye Ba, a Senegalese musician: an opportunity for mutual human and artistic enrichment, from which two songs composed and performed together were born. After the Senegalese tour, their second album, entitled ParcoSofia, was released in November 2017. In autumn 2018, La Maschera took their music abroad: from 12 to 19 October they toured Portugal, from 25 to 29 October they were present at Womex in Gran Canaria (Spain), and from 20 to 30 November they were in Canada for a mini-tour, guests of the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal.
In November 2018, they won the Andrea Parodi Prize, the most prestigious Italian award for World Music.
In 2019 after their new national tour, which takes them to perform in twelve of Italy’s major cities, they leave for South Korea where they meet the favour of insiders and audiences at the Seoul Music Week, and Suseong World Music Festival.
On their return from Korea, among other tour dates, they tread the boards of important national and international festivals such as Szieget, Home Festival, Folkest and Giffoni Music Concept.
Their studio activity also continues, which sees them release two new singles between 2019 and 2020: ‘A cosa justa, a poignant ballad about a lost love, and Se mai fossi, a cover of the song Se tu és o meu amor by Vitorino, a legend of Portuguese folk song, who wanted to participate with La Maschera in both the recording of the song and the Neapolitan date of the tour.
On 13 May 2022, Sotto chi tene core, the band’s third unreleased album, was released.
