Lucio Amelio in un film. Lo racconta Nicolangelo Gelormini nell’opera da lui diretta (nonché montata) che sabato 28 ottobre alle 18 presenterà in anteprima alla 18esima edizione della Festa del cinema di Roma.
Napoli e l’arte contemporanea arrivano al Maxxi con una delle personalità italiane più dirompenti nel mondo artistico, pioniere delle nuove correnti del Novecento. A dicembre 2023 il film andrà in onda su Rai5 e RaiPlay.
Ma chi è stato Lucio Amelio? Innanzitutto un comunicatore della bellezza legata alla realtà e ai movimenti creativi che aveva il suo quartier generale in piazza dei Martiri cuore del quartiere Chiaia: nel 1980 mise in contatto Andy Warhol, il papa della pop art americana, in contatto con l’artista tedesco Joseph Beuys a pochi mesi dopo questo memorabile incontro, ha riunì i più famosi artisti visivi del mondo a Napoli, colpita dalle conseguenze di un terribile terremoto. Memorabile l’opera proprio di Warhol che riprese l’emblematica pagina del quotidiano il Mattino dall’inequivocabile titolo FATE PRESTO.
Così fu di nuovo Terra Motus che smuoveva le coscienze e l’opinione pubblica internazionale: In quell’occasione, i più grandi nomi dell’arte mondiale hanno rappresentato la tragedia e dato il loro apporto alla ricostruzione, creando il documento di un’epoca. Amelio ne fu deus-ex-machina e genio: il mago che ha reso possibile l’impossibile. E questo documentario narra come accadde.
Attraverso le interviste dirette e il materiale d’archivio, il film Lucio Amelio indaga lo spirito camaleontico di Lucio: da un lato anfitrione devoto agli artisti, precursore di nuove tendenze, propugnatore delle teorie e il centro del dibattito poetico; dall’altro scaltro businessman partenopeo che ha colto la realtà per conquistare il mondo con Napoli e far conquistare Napoli dal mondo.
Il film è prodotto da Davide Azzolini, Dazzle Communication in collaborazione con Archivio Amelio Santamaria, con il contributo di Ministero della Cultura – DG Cinema e Regione Campania – Film Commission Regione Campania.

Rome/ Film Festival: Nicolangelo Gelormini tells the story of gallery manager Lucio Amelio in a film. From Naples to the world with the contemporary art
Lucio Amelio in a movie. Narrated by Nicolangelo Gelormini in the work he directed (and also edited) that will have its premiere on Saturday, October 28th at 6 p.m. at the 18th edition of the Rome Film Festival.
Naples and contemporary art arrive at the Maxxi with one of the most explosive Italian personalities in the art world, a pioneer of the new currents of the 20th century. In December 2023 the movie will be broadcast on Rai5 and RaiPlay.
But who was Lucio Amelio? First of all, he was a communicator of beauty linked to reality and creative movements, who had his headquarters in Piazza dei Martiri, in the heart of the Chiaia district: in 1980 he put Andy Warhol, the papa of American Pop Art, in contact with the German artist Joseph Beuys; a few months after this memorable meeting, he brought together the world’s most famous visual artists in Naples, struck by the aftermath of a terrible earthquake. Warhol’s own work was memorable, occupying the emblematic page of the newspaper Il Mattino with the unequivocal title FATE PRESTO.
Once again, it was Terra Motus that stirred the consciences and international public opinion: On this occasion, the greatest names in world art portrayed the tragedy and contributed to the reconstruction, creating the document of an era. Amelio was its deus ex machina and genius: the magician who made the impossible possible. And this documentary tells the story of how it happened.
Through direct interviews and archival material, the film Lucio Amelio explores Lucio Amelio’s chameleon-like spirit: on the one hand, a devoted host to artists, a pioneer of new trends, a proponent of theories and the center of poetic debate; on the other hand, a cunning Neapolitan businessman who seized reality to conquer the world with Naples and have the world conquer Naples.
